About Busayo

The collection is a celebration of African fashion and African fabrics and aims to brighten the contemporary American woman's wardrobe with its interpretation of the vivid colors and geometric patterns of traditional African fabrics into modern shapes.

Busayo aims to encourage and contribute to the continued development of African fashion scene and African fabrics in Nigeria through ethical production of our garments.

Historically, the fabrics I use in my clothing were imported to various African colonies from Europe for their unique design and durable, lightweight-cotton material and then sewn into garments. I seek to continue this tradition by fusing classic, Western shapes with African fabrics--wax print ankara and batik adire. All of the African fabrics used in the collection are sourced from Southwestern Nigeria and tailored by professionals local to the region. Each piece comes with its own character and is made in limited quantity to ensure the originality of your garment.

Busayo strives to bring the entire spectrum of hues into the American closet and dare each woman to embrace just a little bit more color.

Busayo simply means "addition to joy" in Yoruba and my line aims to add a little more joy to your wardrobe.
